![]() ![]() If only the latter are available, there's probably a greater chance that classic space fans would "settle" for one of those sorts of sets than there is that Star Wars fans would spring for a Classic Space set that most of them lack the same nostalgia for. And unfortunately, I don't know if those odds are the most favorable. For space, for instance, they'd have to calculate the risk of whether a "classic Lego" themed space set would sell better than a big Star Wars ship or real-life spacecraft like this year's space shuttle. Not everyone can afford multiple sets in that price range at a time, so there's probably a bit more scrutiny on whether something would work with "yearly" releases like the modulars (that sell alongside one another on the later end of their retail lifespans), or whether they need a little more breathing room (like, for instance, the various Ninjago D2C sets, which have mostly been released only after the previous one has been retired or is on the verge of doing so).Īnd since Lego can only release so many sets of that size each year I expect many 18+ sets also have to prove they'd sell BETTER than other options that could potentially reach a broader market. Something like that could maybe work, but when you're dealing with high-dollar sets like those, there's a little more risk of "saturating" the market. I’ve already built the 31109 Pirate Ship and 31107 Space Rover Explorer, and I loved those sets. ![]() But if TLG keeps up the quality of these Creator 3-in-1 sets, I can live with it. I’m not sure if I like the decision not to release a dedicated Castle theme. But that is just a suggestion the models work very well as a single model. You could see this cynically – as a ploy to make people buy multiple sets. I like the fact that all builds can be connected into a larger castle, adding to the playability. As promised, some moving pictures of this set's play functions: The brick fits in it with only the lower dent, making it tricky to load. It’s a very sturdy design, and despite shooting a good 40 bricks or more, I had no jams or other issues. The tower is a nice design with all the rooms in it, but the trebuchet is the highlight of the set for me. Although I liked the A model best, going by the complete build, I think model B wins out. The C model trails behind, lacking some of the shine of the A and B model – it’s not bad, and would work nicely as a separate set but next to A and B, it’s just the lesser one. Usually, the A model is the best one, with the B model being a close runner-up. ![]() What I did notice, both here and in the other 3-in-1 sets, is a pattern in the builds. Tile Special 1 x 1 with Clip with Rounded Edges in Earth Green/ Dark Green (6348061 | 44842) has been featured in 2 sets prior. It has a shiny finish where the previously preferred part, Tile 6 x 6, has a silky finish, often disrupting the look of a build.īrick Special 1 x 2 with Vertical Closed Handle on Edge in Sand Blue (6248968 | 34816) has been used in 4 sets. It’s a great part to cover up big areas fast. People seem to love the Tile 2 x 6, introduced last year. Tile 2 x 6 in Medium Stone Grey/ Light Bluish Gray (6318584 | 69729) has been in 10283 NASA Space Shuttle and 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System. Tile 2 x 3 in Sand Yellow/ Dark Tan (6328307 | 26603) has been in 4 sets since 2020 Plate Special 1 x 2 with Handle on End in Brick Yellow/ Tan (6211975 | 60478) is not rare, but has not been seen since 2011 Plate Special 4 x 4 with Curved Cutout in Bright Green (6331548 | 35044) was introduced in 2021, and has only appeared in 41445 Vet Clinic Ambulance. Plate Round Half 3 x 6 with 1 x 2 Cutout in Dark Green/ Green (6303715 | 18646) has been in 2 earlier sets. ![]()
